So you’re putting in the hours creating content, sending it out on your social media accounts and still not seeing results? Well, my friend it may be time to reevaluate your strategy…or hire TweetAngels , either works. If you’re getting your content out there but not selling anything, there could be multiple things going wrong, here are a few you should be aware of.
Joining too many platforms
There are A LOT of social media platforms out there. But, just because they’re out there doesn’t mean your company needs to join all of them.
Okay, yes Facebook has over 1 billion active users. But Facebook also (annoyingly) changes its algorithm almost daily so it may not be best if you aren’t will to spend a few extra dollars on ads.
Twitter is great for those willing to put out multiple posts, interact throughout the day and spend time creating visuals that’ll grab your audience’s’ attention.
The important thing here is for you to take the time to evaluate where your top customers are coming from and start there. Once you know where your customers are coming from socially you can go at them like a One Direction fan – okay maybe too far. But you get the idea. Tailor your content to reach them, get them engaged and boom, you can start converting those audience members into buyers.
Then you can move on to the next platform.
Talking only about your company
Maybe you have a great product or offer really awesome services but people don’t want to read about it every time you update your Facebook. Would you have a second date with someone who only talked about themselves on the first date? We wouldn’t either. Remember that your audience has interests outside of your company, target those interests!
Share updates about news and topics related to your industry. This will allow you to be seen as a go-to source for news in your industry. Bloggers love when you promote their content, use that to your advantage and get a new follower while you’re at it.
Sounding like C3PO’s cousin
If your content doesn’t sound like it’s coming from a warm-blooded human then your chances of selling are definitely slim. It’s okay to sound more personable on social media, people want to feel connected across platforms so sounding like a robot is just not the way to go.
Engage your audience and let them know that yes, you’re interested in more than just your product. Nothing like some witty banter to spark a new relationship.
This brings up another thing; ALWAYS respond to your mentions (when appropriate, of course). If your audience takes the time to mention you in a tweet or ask a question, answer them.
